If you work in tech, or you want to, you probably know how competitive it is and how hard it is to get your foot in the door. Before, you would have to scan job boards all day and try to compete with thousands of other applicants for the same job.
But now, with AI, you can gain an almost unfair advantage over all other candidates. Using AI, you can apply to hundreds of jobs and freelance opportunities daily and outperform every other candidate just by sheer volume, while still maintaining high quality.
Imagine you have a program that runs daily and looks for jobs in your given field; it tailors your cover letter and resume to the job description, applies, emails, and follows up for you while you do absolutely nothing. With AI, that is now possible.
Depending on how advanced and autonomous you want your system to be, you can use several different services. For example, if you are relatively inexperienced with AI and AI automation, you might want to use Perplexity or Zapier for a basic system. But if you are more experienced, you can “vibe-code” your custom AI system or use a tool like N8N to build one. If you use Perplexity, use a prompt like, “Search for data analytics jobs in Austin, Texas, with a salary over $100k that are also fully remote. Then provide a list of the jobs you find in your search to me with the company name, salary, and where I can apply." Then you will take those jobs and individually copy the job description and ask your favorite LLM (I would use Gemini) to tailor your cover letter and resume to the job. This is far more efficient than doing all of that yourself, but we can be even more efficient. If you use a tool like N8N, you can automate nearly the whole process. You can set it up so every day it runs a search on job boards, finds relevant results, automatically creates a cover letter, and then applies for you. You could even take it a step further and have it enter information about the jobs you've applied to into a spreadsheet, and even send you an email summary after it’s done running.
With this new age of AI automation, the possibilities are truly endless. If you put in the initial effort to set up these systems, you will see the results.
